Silence, really what is it? The breeze which sweeps across the tiny hairs on the body, does one really feel them? The water, moist in the air, does anyone even pay attention to its magic? Pondering, and thinking is the noise that grows continually in the mind from the time one is subject to the experience of language. Exposure to language begins from the time the magic of life is in the womb. This world constructs the buildings of language and the mighty power of the energy force it builds by the tiny streams until it becomes the raging river. Once a raging river, this civilized culture has the individuals who reside within it believing a belief system that the mind is silent when someone is not talking, that however is not the true power of silence.
Silence is the quit in the mind, the true root of an all knowing power; a power which can not be rationalized, expressed, or put into any language in which to bring one to it’s comprehension, or an understanding. Just as the athlete has a discipline or a practice, by doing, they limit themselves by the construct of the ego mind until the ability to grasp the weight required in order to stand under the magnitude of the force in which to sustain it. The human culture strips its young of the ability in which to be truly empowered and so becomes robots, stuck in the loop of an ever growing addiction of the thoughts in mind.
The subtle energy of the mind, is not seen and yet it is acknowledged with full blown force by society for the branding of the “individual”, the “you”, the ever growing “self” or the mind, the invisible ego. This loop keeps the masses hypnotized, brainwashed, and fast asleep with the upmost boring way of what has become the societies, group-think, of the term, living. Removed from the true core strength, which this species was actually born with. With so little models in which to reflect the truth of empowerment. Dan Millian, a world class olympic athlete is lucky to be one of them, in the ability to grasp true power. The power beyond the ability to build the construction in the language framework, it is the practice, the every abiding-in-silence, true silence, silence from the feasting thoughts of the ego’s mind.
The ego’s mind, fights back with such intense cruelty, as it is the monkey mind which continually is screaming, “give me that banana”. The ever-annoying screaming of the restless, overpowering illusionary, addiction. This understanding is so simple a nine year gets that comprehension and knows that even at the age of nine, quieting the monkey mind is just so darn difficult, and yet this child still has the mental-strength to practice such an empowering discipline, with assistance and reminders; the scheduling of the activity, imagine how truly empowered this young little duckling will grow to be with continued reinforced practice, wow, what a new-frame system for the species and the evolution of this planet. Basically if a nine-year old is able to grasp the simple concept the world renowed, Buddha practiced, then maybe what the Buddha said, “try it you might like it”, actually holds it own weight, beyond the mental projects manufactured in the mind’s eye, the ego, ones head.
Back to the reminder, just sit with it. Sit down in a space, even if in the mist of the chaos, the storms of growing epic proportions and abide in silence, not just in a quiet external space; in the forbidden space, between the ears, called the human head. Whatever surfaces, just sit with it, and then go back to breathing, watch from backstage, the stillness of the breath. When the monkey-mind wants more of its feasting, simply go back to the breath. It really is that simple.
